Bread Knife

The Ronin Bread Knife’s single bevel 8" blade is designed to slice through foods hard on the outside and soft on the inside without crushing its content. It also safely slices foods that normally pose a cutting hazard to busy cooks (such as melons and squash) and is great for prepping other fruits and vegetables (like tomatoes and pineapples). This extremely versatile knife can even be used to slice meatloaf and carve roasts.

The Ronin Series

Ronin Series knives are distinguished by their finely etched design reminiscent of the classic Japanese Seigaiha pattern (waves layered from concentric circles which represent surges of good luck, resilience, and power). Adorned with two marbled resin bands resembling twin moons or celestial wedding rings, the knives are equipped with extremely durable mirror polished pakkawood handles. Each knife has full tang strength, which means the knife’s blade extends all the way through the entire handle for lifelong durability and safety. They are finished with a stainless-steel laser etched end cap which serves as a counterbalance.

The Kessaku Ronin Series 8-Inch Bread Knife's features, dimensions, and steel composition

Blade Features

Ronin Series knife blades are vacuum furnace heat treated and nitrogen cooled which greatly enhances the blade’s performance, providing excellent wear resistance and durability, while minimizing the chance of chips and fractures occurring under heavy stress. Forged from premium 7Cr17MoV high carbon stainless steel, the composition of this steel results in great edge retention, keeping the knife’s blade sharper, longer. The steel has a Rockwell Hardness (HRC) of 58 for strength, flexibility, and blade edge durability. Each of the bread knife's single bevel pointed serrations are hand sharpened to a perfect 16-degrees.

Handle Features

Used for military applications due to its incredible strength and exceptional density, Pakkawood has high water-resisting capabilities, won't crack or split, and is easy to clean and maintain. The seamless build ensures no dirt or food debris can infiltrate its body, keeping the handle safe and hygienic in busy kitchens. Ergonomically designed for extended use, the handle has a contoured bolster, which provides a comfortable pinch grip for enhanced knife control.
